Safe Passing: Ohio
Cleveland is not waiting for the state of Ohio to protect their cyclists. The Cleveland city council has passed a fairly comprehensive law that not only enforces a cushion for cyclists from motor vehicles, but also adds other protections. These include making the opening of a car door in front of a cyclist an offense. After the Cleveland City Council posts the bill on their site, we'll include a link here.
Bike Cleveland
This effort was driven by the Cleveland advocacy organization Bike Cleveland. This is a strong organization with good local working ties with government and law enforcement.
