Safe Passing Survey #003 Groups

With the exception of a reference to riding two across, most cycling laws are written for cyclists riding by themselves. As we know the scenery changes when it comes to group rides, especially with large groups. These groups, even when acting within the law, can complicate traffic situations, especially on two lane roads. It becomes very difficult and sometimes dangerous for motor vehicles to pass extended groups of cyclists. When these groups go single file (“single up”) as the law requires, this can make it even more dangerous as the length of the line of cyclists doubles.
