For those that don't know, Shawnee Trail Cycling Club is in a joint effort with the City of Frisco, Crest/RBM Cycling and Dorba to develop a Mountain Bike course inside the City of Frisco. While efforts are proceeding to secure land and get the appropriate agreements in place for trail construction, the Frisco clubs have been proactive in the education of our members in the art of trail building. Shawnee Trail Cycling Club sent three representatives to the recent Lone Star Trail Building School, hosted by Groundwork Dallas and organized by the North Texas Mountain Bike Patrol, to learn the "right"...

Here we go again. Daylight Saving Time. We're on that roller coaster of wearing out the hands on our clocks, spring forward, fall back, get up too early, or... worse yet... I missed my ride ! Stick with us and we'll keep you up to date. Follow our countdown clock (if you can use Flash) on our right banner or just set your alarm for... Sunday, March 11th That's when we'll magically gain an hour at the end of our day (sweet) and lose an hour of sleep (not so much). It means spring is not too far away and it also means changes in start times for some of our rides, to take advantage of the warmer weather...

Happy Holidays from Shawnee Trail Cycling Club! Whether you're celebrating Christmas, Hannukkah, or are just enjoying the time off from work, this is the time of year more than any other to enjoy some well earned time with family and reflect on the blessings of the past year. Please give warm thoughts to those in the armed services and in positions where because of duty and job, they are not able to be with loved ones. And please remember those that are struggling in hard economic times - volunteer if you can, in any way you can and make these times a little more enjoyable for all. Don't forget...

The selection was made during National Bike Month - being announced this month because of conflicts in schedules. The inaugural Commuter of the Year award goes to Katie Anderson Parker . Katie has been commuting to work on her bike for a couple of years and has quickly become a veteran, always chatting about the benefits and sharing her experiences with other cyclists, encouraging them to do the same. She best exemplifies how our club mission applies...

Shawnee Trail Cycling Club’s inaugural partnership effort with the good folks at The Tribute turned out to be a lot of fun and proved to be a great way for community residents and cyclists alike to show off their overflowing abundance of good will. We counted well over 100 cyclists stopping to take advantage of the eats and drinks spread put out by the builders and residents at The Tribute Resort and Golf Community . Much more than we cyclists are used to at rest stops, there were blueberries, yogurt, fresh granola and bananas. Don’t forget the drinks as well along with some nice giveaways...

Al Brodie , Shawnee Trail Cycling Club The following is an excerpt from a full article available on the club forum. Instructions for access are included at the bottom of the page. "Why does my _____ hurt? “ Fill in the blank. And, be honest! Cycling is a funny sport. Explain why an activity that is low impact, good for your heart, lungs, and psyche can cause minor (and sometimes major) discomfort, aches and pains; both on and off the bike ? I’m not talking about self-inflicted aches and pains that many of us have endured doing something silly – like riding 50 miles when you...
