Effective February 1st, 2012, all non-members 1 participating in Shawnee Trail Cycling Club (STCC) rides and events will be required to sign a waiver prior to participation. This is required by our insurance provider. We've done our best to make this as minimal an effort as possible. Non-members 1 are not provided coverage under STCC's Participant Accident Insurance and ride completely at their own risk. This waiver must be signed EACH time you ride (eg. if you are riding the Thu Night Rider and Sunday Recovery, you will be required to sign a waiver both times). STCC Members have agreed to this...

Some of our rides for more experienced cyclists utilize a rotating paceline to better involve everyone in the efforts and to take advantage of everyone for periodic blocking of the wind and drafting. Below are some of the techniques we as a club expect when you participate in our pacelines. We do recommend, if you aren't sure of the technique, or haven't been with our group before, that you sit to the back, catch the draft and observe. You can also download a pdf of these slides to view offline. It's provided at the bottom of the page. And finally, comments are ALWAYS welcome! Additionally, here...

Mark the date, Sunday February 5th. Club Waiver Policy Yes, last year we missed - for the first time - our ride on Super Bowl morning due to ice accumulation on the streets. Not this year. Not even if I have to put studs in my tires. This ride is too much fun even on the coldest of days! This ride is open to all comers , Shawnee Trail Cycling Club is happy to host our " Super Bowl Ride to the Ride V ". This annual event is known to attract more than 1,000 cyclists who depart from multiple locations throughout the Metroplex. Our section of the ride is relatively short, leaving Richardson...

Do you want an evening out with a little peace and quiet before the holidays kick into full gear? Shawnee Trail Cycling Club would like to invite you to join us for our 4th annual Twinkle, Twinkle Ride on December 9th. We'll be "wheels down" at 6:30pm, returning between 8 and 8:30. We take a nice pre-planned route through parts of Frisco to see some of the best light shows our neighbors have to offer. It's usually chilly, so dress warm and don't forget to bring your lights. This is a safe leisurely paced ride of 12-15 miles at a 10-12mph pace. I'll have my buddy with his decorated trailer...

Let's add a little fun to our Thursday Night Rider. We have a full moon on November 10th and we plan to do some howling on our ride. Get out your lights and head to the parking lot behind Burger Girl. Regardless of the group you ride with, we guarantee a nice ride and some new friends. If you haven't ridden at night before, you are in for a treat. Group rides in the dark of night can be some of the most rewarding. It does take some skills, but the experienced cyclists can help mentor you on your first time out. The rides are fun and safe, although a little slower than you would see during the daylight...

When Bill started this ride, it was because he had other commitments on Thursdays for the summer and just wanted something to do for 10 or 12 weeks. As our club grows, we're finding that once you start a ride it's very difficult to kill it - nothing is temporary. By popular request, the Wednesday Night Special will live on. Shawnee Trail Ride Leaders have stepped up to carry it into the winter. That's right, Shawnee Trail Cycling Club now has another night ride. One more reason to push that trainer into the corner and hit the road with us, no matter the weather or how much light is out. The route...

Returning to the schedule on February 14, 2012! Do you find it difficult to make it up even those things we call "hills" in North Texas? Does your stomach turn every time you come to a challenging climb? Ride Leaders Steve Landry and Paul Ellenbogen have the potion for your ills with the newest Shawnee Trail Cycling Club ride, the Tuesday Hill Climber. Every Tuesday night at 5:00 pm, barring inclimate weather or schedule conflicts, the group is meeting at the Zen Bar Austin Ranch located at the top of Windhaven Hill. The route is a set of loops, so if you feel you can't make the full...

One constant we know of life is that nothing is constant and change will happen. Nowhere is that more true than on bike routes. We've been fortunate that our rides have had only minimal impact over the past 5 years, but that now seems to be changing across the board. Once the construction is done, we'll find life back at ease with some of the best riding opportunities in the region. In the meantime, we'll go with the flow, watch the construction schedules and do everything we can, including working with the local governments, to keep our rides safe and fun - one without the other is not acceptable...
