STCC SuperBowl Sunday Ride to the Ride V
Mark the date, Sunday February 5th.
Yes, last year we missed - for the first time - our ride on Super Bowl morning due to ice accumulation on the streets. Not this year. Not even if I have to put studs in my tires. This ride is too much fun even on the coldest of days! This ride is open to all comers, Shawnee Trail Cycling Club is happy to host our "Super Bowl Ride to the Ride V". This annual event is known to attract more than 1,000 cyclists who depart from multiple locations throughout the Metroplex.
Our section of the ride is relatively short, leaving Richardson Bike Mart Frisco and wandering our way to the Richardson Bike Mart location at Coit and Campbell. There, we'll join Woody and the gang for the ride to downtown Dallas. We'll have a short lunch and those of us doing the return trip will head back - even at our leisurely pace, we'll be back by around 2pm with plenty of time to shower and have those "guilt free" drinks and snacks while we watch the game! Don't let the distance scare you, because this ride is a definite "no drop".
This is a low intensity, social ride (14-17mph overall average) with optional lunch in downtown Dallas. For those that want it, lunch is available (your expense) at the Spaghetti Warehouse. Be sure to bring money for lunch, if you want it. After lunch everyone wanting to ride back (if you don’t have alternate transportation) will get together and head back north. With the connection ride between Frisco and Richardson, our overall roundtrip will be about 51 miles. In the past some of our group have skipped lunch and took an extended route back via White Rock Lake and then north. We'll provide maps for anyone wanting to take that option.
In the past some have selected to make this a one way trip and have someone waiting downtown to transport them and their bike back north. This is a very relaxed group so feel free to do only what you are comfortable.
The weather this time of year is unpredictable, so - dress appropriately! You'll need to bring money for lunch and we'll announce the location later, probably Spaghetti Warehouse.

Downtown and back is approximately 60 miles.
Pace
Leisurely, 14-17 mph depending on the group. In the past, we have had some do their own faster paced route coming back.
