Central Park Saturday Ride (CPS)

Central Park Saturday Ride (CPS)

At the request of our members ( we do listen ) and the desire to fill a gap in our ride offerings, we developed the Central Park Saturday (CPS). This ride is at 15-17mph and is designed for those that wish to do more distance and faster pace than the 3 Cities Novice & The Bridge, but aren’t yet up to the pace of other Saturday rides. This is also an ideal ride to learn and practice group riding skills. Our ride leaders, with a smile on their face , will gladly work with you on the nuances and fun of safe group riding. The start time is 8:00 am (spring & summer start time) on Saturdays...

STCC 3 Cities Novice Ride

We hope you’ll join us this Saturday for our official ride for those that are new or infrequent cyclists and want a pace and distance that’s designed for you to enjoy and grow. We haven't yet determined if this ride will be seasonal or if it will be year round. Your attendance will be the determining factor. The routes will be approximately 20 miles with an average pace of 10-14 mph, dependant on the composition of the group. The routes will be designed with minimal hills and traffic, making for a ride all can enjoy. If you want to pull your children in a trailer, they're welcome as...

STCC at the Track, Training Opportunities

STCC at the Track, Training Opportunities

Several club members are already riding at our velodrome on Tuesday evenings. The track is open to all certified cyclists, not just Shawnee Trail Cycling Club. If you've not ridden at the Frisco SuperDrome before, you're missing a fantastic training opportunity. This facility on the Collin County Community College Campus in Frisco, Tx , is one of the premiere outdoor track venues in the country. The track is a 250 meter loop with turns that are banked at 44 degrees. The ride is a little different, on fixed gear bicycles - "no gears, no brakes and no coasting" . It's like constant hill...

STCC Express Ride, Now Every Saturday!

STCC Express Ride, Now Every Saturday!

Tell your friends about the STCC Express Ride. If you're looking for a ride that's a little faster and longer than the usual, Express is waiting for you. The Express Ride rolls out EVERY WEEK! We will have two pace groups, if the attendance and size of the groups require it. Same start location every week, with a different route depending on which way the wind is blowing (we want that tailwind coming home!). We have some basic routes that we do follow - we've provided some maps and downloads for your riding pleasure. Re-visit this post often and we'll publish the route as soon as it's available...

STCC Hangover Ride

STCC Hangover Ride

After a short absence, the Sunday Hangover Ride is BACK!! New ride leaders, new route - twice the fun. The ride leaves the Superdrome at the same time as the Sunday Recovery, but follows a slightly different route, avoiding those nasty Hardin Hills. The pace for this ride will be in the 15-17mph range. This becomes a true "recovery ride" pace, but still has some nice climbs and goes through the scenic CR124 route. This road offers great shade for a summertime route and shelters you from the wind. There's one pit stop at Lake Forest and US380. Come out, enjoy your ride, but don't cross...

STCC Strava Time Trial

STCC Strava Time Trial

Updated April 2013. This is for Shawnee Trail Cycling Club members only - want to find out how to join? Click here. We've been asked many times for the club to stage a Time Trial event. Although an official Time Trial takes planning, preparation, coordination with municipalities, licensing and many, many other things - and we wanted any contest we put together to focus on fitness and the enjoyment of being on a bike. So, we thought we'd take advantage of our use of Strava and stage a roaming time trial competition utilizing Strava segments. If you aren't signed up for Strava and want to know how...

The Bridge, the newest STCC Ride

The Bridge, the newest STCC Ride

You asked for it, and here it is. A ride to "bridge" the pace and skills of the 3 Cities Novice Ride with those required of the CPS. This ride will follow the east and west routes of the original CPS, ranging from 27 to 30 miles. The real difference is in the pace. This advertised pace for this ride is 13-15mph. No drop, as always. This is an ideal ride to learn and practice safe group riding skills. The start time is 8:00 am (spring & summer start time) on Saturdays, but watch our calendar, forum and this site for updates as that may change. This ride will evolve, as most new rides...

Thursday Night Rider, Parking Change

Thursday Night Rider, Parking Change

Parking update: Our permanent and expanded parking spot is in the large parking lot north of The Lemon Bar & Grill. The Lemon Bar & Grill has also become our"after ride" meeting point. The Thursday Night Rider was started 2006 and has evolved into one of the most popular, year round weekday rides in the area. We've grown from the small group of avid cyclists that wanted desperately to avoid the "winter trainer" to the five, yes FIVE, pace groups today. Our groups support cyclists from those that can maintain a 15mph average to the more technical and much higher paced...
