Wednesday Night Special
When Bill started this ride, it was because he had other commitments on Thursdays for the summer and just wanted something to do for 10 or 12 weeks. As our club grows, we're finding that once you start a ride it's very difficult to kill it - nothing is temporary.
By popular request, the Wednesday Night Special will live on. Shawnee Trail Ride Leaders have stepped up to carry it into the winter. That's right, Shawnee Trail Cycling Club now has another night ride. One more reason to push that trainer into the corner and hit the road with us, no matter the weather or how much light is out. The route may change slightly, but the concept is the same, so pay attention to the map below.
This ride is a fairly easy 6 miles out, then loops at your own pace. Everyone regroups for an easy 6 miles back in TOGETHER and then after ride socializing at Luigi's.
This Wednesday night alternative gives cyclists an opportunity for some fantastic training and fills a gap in our weekly ride schedule. This ride has one Strava sprint zone. Check out how members are doing below.
We plan to leave the start, rolling out together to the start of the loops beginning just east of Craig's Ranch. The route is mapped around a relatively flat, low traffic route that allows you to do as many loops as you want, at the pace you want, then regroup for the "cool down" pace to the finish.
Join us for food and drink afterwards. Bring your lights as the end of this ride goes more and more after the sun sets. You should know by now that Shawnee Trail sponsored rides aren't afraid of the dark.
Remember for this ride, apart from the regular Shawnee Trail Cycling Club etiquette, Ride Leader's rules ARE the rules!
